New Year 2010

A few small drifts of snow looks so wonderful. There were water restrictions happening. How could that be? It appears that everyone leaves thair taps running so that the pipes do not freeze up and it has caused the authorities to close off the water in certain areas to conserve the reservoirs and yet there is water everywhere, very strange. We headed out for new years eve, just a short walk into the city from where we were staying. It took longer than we thought it would, because of the snow and ice on the footpaths. Crowds of happy people were everywhere. We headed to Temple Bar as that would have to be the gathering point for celebrations.
Interestingly no fireworks were planned for Dublin at midnight. We had a few Guinness and listened to the music. After midnight we went outside and the snow was falling. we wandered about a bit and soon found that there were no taxis around as they had been called fron the streets as it was too icy and dangerous.
Next day we did some sightseeing but it was cold and snow was everywhere and it was very icy. The temperature was down to -9C.
