Next stop ..Bratislava

We wanted to stop here for one night as a stopover so it wasn't such a long trip. Our accom was quite away from the bus station, or so we thought. We took a taxi from the bus station to the hotel. The driver must have seen us coming. He charged us just under 20 euros for a 5 minute ride...Nick said to keep the change, no wonder he had a smile on his face. We told the receptionist when we got there she said 5 euros max. It was only a 5 min walk. Lesson learnt!

Quirky place ...

These wild boar statues were made from straw..very clever.

At least we didn't have to pose for photos this time..good likeness I thought

It looked like a flying saucer had landed on the bridge. It is in fact the UFO bridge.
We spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the city then decided to make our way over the bridge. We couldn't resist a chance to go higher. Glad we did, the views are magnificent. We spent ages up the top outside soaking in the sunshine and watching others as they brought up their children to see the view. It was like a Sunday afternoon at home. Families everywhere. Times like that, we miss our clan. We ventured into the cafe and had to have a beer and that is where we stayed for most of the afternoon. It was very quiet and peaceful. Great music. So why would we move.

It's a bit difficult to know a city in one day and night especially on a Sunday. It seemed like it was not on the high list of the usual tourists and travelers. It was a big open city with wide boulevards so very easy to navigate around. We could have taken a one hour boat ride to Vienna, but we didn't see the signs until late afternoon so this time we decided not to.
