Telc UNESCO town

We had read a little about this town ..so decided to see if it lived up to its reputation having been recognized by the UNESCO as a valuable heritage asset to the Czech Republic. We arrived by bus and walked through the newer part of town, so at first sight it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. As we came across the old bridge looking for our Pension, the sight in front of us blew us away.
This was our accommodation. Very nice and extremely inexpensive. We had a whole kitchen, sitting room and bedroom.

We ventured into the palace and wondered what these buckets were for. They were used to put out fires ...no wonder places burnt down in those days.

I know it's a bit macabre, but I love the cemeteries in Europe. They don't believe in cremation and someone from the family tends the graves regularly.

This saves putting fresh flowers on there. Permanent flower beds are the way to go I reckon.

The houses in lines are rebuilt after most of them were burnt down..but even that time is a long time ago. It looked like a movie set. All facades, they looked like, but they were real functioning shops and accommodation..

The villages in this particular area of Czech republic had series of ponds that linked up with each other. It made for picturesque walks. Lots of fish in them as well. Huge trout farming in Trebon, a large town nearby.
Look what was t the bottom of our garden..we could hear this weird noise when we first arrived. We thought it was wailing cats. They were in the old moat that used to surround the old town. The moat was at the bottom of our garden.

Dinner any one..that was one mother of a fungi...

We had a couple of days here exploring and walking along the trails between ponds. It was so quiet at night. No one around so we could walk around the old buildings and pretend it was our town.
