Prague (Praha) part 2 (views and buildings, day and night)

This amazing clock has stood in the old square for a very long time. I can't imagine how many people have gone past in the old ages and now. On the hour there are hundreds of people who stop to witness the chimes and lots of animated faces appear and go round a little like you would imagine a cuckoo clock. Depending on what hour it did something different. After it all finished everyone claps and cheers. On our early morning walk we were there with about ten others it was very different.

This is the Prague that will stick in my mind. The first time we saw the river and this scene.

We walked on the King Charles bridge many times and many times we crossed at the other bridges to avoid the throngs of people. The first time at night we were just at the end of the bridge when a light show came on one of the buildings. It was wonderful.

The Prague castle with the St Vitis church spires towering above the skyline.

On our last day we were very lucky again with the weather and decided to climb to Petrin Hill. On top there was a wonderful rose garden, lots of walks and a pseudo Eiffel Tower. Of course we wanted to get to the highest point . So up we went and we saw Prague at its best.
St Vitus church was part of the Prague castle..very commanding edifice. Inside and outside.

Charles bridge at 8.00 am absolutely devoid of people. Then along came a bride and her photographer. We were lucky to witness the moment.

my favourite view.

Here is the bridge again in the zoom of my camera. See how crowded it is. The statues that adorn the bridge all have religious significance. They are amazing.
On our early morning walk there we spotted the rubbish truck stop. The big burly driver got out and went over to one of the statues, put his hands over the two very shiny hands of this sculpture and prayed.

Zoom again

I could put up so any more photos ..it was a memorable city and we know we won't return but we made sure we did and saw everything we could in the 5 days we had there.
